Cleansing and Calming

November 2020

A still-life combined with mixing of the primary and secondary colors. This piece took me a full week to make, and one of my personal accomplishments with the shading in the leaves and the rough grooves in the salt lamp.

Spirits Up Above

May 2018

Another still-life done in charcoal pencils and referencing a personal item from home; with the challenge of replicating the shadow from a spotlight. This is my largest piece ever created, being drawn on a 50"x 38" paper. The detailing in the feathers, which I have always struggled with growing up, and the proportions of the 3-dimensional dream catcher were a big challenge for me with this piece.

Home

February 2019

This college piece is another big accomplishment and personal favorite. Done in colored charcoal and referenced a piece of cloth and a ceramic figurine, the intent was to combine them, and as simple as it looks, it does in fact remind me of home.

Being in a very close-knit family, moving away for college, along with the growing changes in my life made me feel like I was afraid to grow up. Part of me didn't want to change how I was raised and what I learned, the other knowing I needed to become my own person.

Are You Dreaming?

November 2017

Testing my skills of reflection off the water from the moonlight, to the details in the main focal point, this piece has become a part of my artistic career. Inspired by the movie "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban," the scene where Harry is in the woods and somehow thinks he sees his dad as a representation of a deer is what I wanted to capture.
